===============

Marie is daughter to Anna Farkas and Janos Benko; she was born in Pozsega County in Hungary and has three siblings, Julius, Julia Anna and Anton. She married Edward Forsberg on June 02, 1928 in South Bend, Indiana (records are at the Gloria Dei Luthern Church, South Bend, Indiana). Interment at Riverview Cemetary, #412, South Bend, St. Joseph, Indiana. Marie Catherine (Benko) Forsberg. Marie Catherine Benko, daughter to Janos (John) Benko and Anna Farkas was born in Blagorohovac, Hungary (according to a 1906 ship manifesto). She came to the US with her mother, Anna Farkas, but took the last name of Szabo when Anna Farkas married her second husband, Anton Szabo. Her mother, Anna Farkas (Benko-Szabo) left two children behind when she came to the US with Marie, her oldest son Julius and her youngest daughter, Julia. Marie had a club foot, affecting her mother's decision to bring her older daughter with her on the boat. None of the children were formerly adopted by their step-father, Anton Szabo. Her mother, Anna Farkas Benko-Szabo affectionely called Maria "Mariskam," making the notation on a notepad for her dear daughter when she died. Before her journey to the U.S., Maria would sit on top of her maternal grandfather's shoulders (Alexander Farkas) and mark the trees in the forest with an "x" - to indicate which trees were to be cut. Some family members say the grandfather had red hair and blue eyes.
