MISHAWAKA - Edward Wasowski, 83, of Mishawaka, passed away Saturday morning, March 8, 2014, in his home. Ed was born November 13, 1930 in South Bend, a son of the late Edward and Rose (Wasielewski) Wasowski, Sr. He grew up in South Bend and was a 1949 graduate of Washington High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. On August 23, 1952, Ed married Louise Amato. They lived in South Bend until moving to Mishawaka in 1987. For 35 years Ed was in sales with the Recreational Vehicle Industry. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Ed volunteered with the Center for Hospice Care, Pet Refuge and the College Football Hall of Fame. Ed was a member of the Mishawaka Lions Club and the Eagles Lodge. He liked photography, golfing and traveling. He enjoyed a monthly card group called the Warren Street Tigers and also the Washington High School Huddle Club. Ed's surviving family includes his wife of over 61 years, Louise; three sons, Dan Wasowski (Cindy) of St. Louis, Missouri, Mark Wasowski of Mishawaka and Larry Wasowski (Jerrianne) of Queen Creek, Arizona; a brother, Robert Wasowski (Ann); a sister, Mary Ann Polonka (John); four grandchildren, Tabitha (Gene), Tuesday (Jimmy), Claire and Brianna; three step-grandchildren, Tiffany, Ricky and Sara; and five great-grandchildren, Leviathan, Alyssa, J.J., Emma and Caiden. Ed's family is especially grateful and gives thanks to the Center for Hospice Care. Services honoring Ed's life will be held Saturday, March, 15, at 12 noon in Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. 3rd Street, Mishawaka, with Rev. Terry Fisher officiating. Ed's family will receive friends Saturday from 10 am - 12 noon in the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Center for Hospice Care or Pet Refuge.
