Mr. Daniel Robert Lindborg, 87, of South Bend, and formerly of LaPorte, died Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. He was born May 21, 1918, in LaPorte to Daniel and Lilly Lindborg.
Mr. Lindborg was a dentist in South Bend for more than 50 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of Gloria Dei Church, where he served many years on the board, United Health Foundation and Morris Park Country Club. He served as president of the St. Joseph County Dental Association, the North Central Dental Association and the Indiana Dental Alumni Association. He had also served as president of the South Bend Kiwanis Club and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels. He was a graduate of LaPorte High School and Indiana University, Bloomington, and a 1943 graduate of Indiana University Dental School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943 to 1946. On March 6, 1948, in South Bend, he married Millicent Plantz, who survives. Also surviving are four sons, Dr. Daniel (Nancy) of South Bend, Richard (Sally) of Francesville, Ind., Douglas (Nancy) of Chicago and Dr. David (Dr. Cynthia) of Niles, Mich.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His brother, Charles, preceded him in death. The funeral was today at noon LaPorte County time, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, South Bend, with Rev. Denise Grant officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Welsheimer Funeral Home, South Bend, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 225 E.
