Jay A. West, 60, of Edwardsburg, MI, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday January 1, 2009, in his home. He was born on April 1, 1948, in South Bend, to Estelle (Wesolowski)
West and the late Stanley (Wesolowski) West. Along with his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Angela West; his son, Jason A. West, both of Mishawaka, IN; two sisters, Mary Jane
(Louis) Bukowski of Mishawaka and Susan T. Schroeter of South Bend; a brother, Walter J. West of South Bend; his niece, Christine Schroeter of Charlotte, NC; his nephew, Daniel J. West of South Bend; a great-nephew, Kevin D. West; a great-great niece, Shealyn West; his former wife, Charlotte West; and current girlfriend/companion, AnnWoodhurst. Jay retired from Honeywell on May 1, 2008 after 34 years of service.He was United States Marine Corp Veteran, and a member of the U.A.W.,through Honeywell. Our most beloved son and brother. The best brother you could ask for. He was always there to help us after our father passed away, 36 years
ago. His compassion and love for his family cannot be expressed in words. His happy wonderful personality will be in our hearts. Thank you God for giving me my wonderful brother. Please take care of him.Your sister Sue. As a brother, he always wondered if everything was going well with Louie. He loved life and his family and extended family. I missed seeing him but we all knew he was happy and thats all that mattered.Loving brother, I love you and you will be missed dearly, God Be with you. As a father, he was very involved in all aspects of his childrens
life. He loved his children and wanted the best for their life. He will be dearly missed. Jay was a very special person, always willing to help others and was loved by everybody. He knew how to work hard and play well. He was a wonderful handyman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his companion Ann. Among his interests were, traveling, playing volleyball and pampering his dogs, Duke and Vinny. He was a sports enthusiast and had a wonderful sense of humor. He will be dearly missed by his family and Ann and her family. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM Sunday January 4, 2009, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, where a Parish Rosary will be recited at 4:30PM. Funeral services for Jay will be held at 11 AM Monday, in the Funeral Home, where friends may call for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Saint Joseph County.
