SOUTH BEND - Edward Richard Wachowiak, 76, passed away at 11:17 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2008, in his home. Edward was born on October 1, 1931, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Sophie (Klemczewski) Wachowiak. His son David passed away on April 26, 2003. On June 30, 1956, Edward married Gertrude (Machowiak). She survives along with their son, Duane (Susan) Wachowiak of South Bend; granddaughters, Amanda (Aaron) Maxwell, Angela (Michael) McCann and Stephanie Wachowiak; great-grandchildren, Kristen, Kylee, Kinsey, Jackson, Kaiden and Declan; and a sister, Gertrude Wroblewski of South Bend. Edward honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and worked at A.M. General for over 20 years. He was a parishioner at St. Casimir Catholic Church and belonged to PNA and Z.B. Falcons Conservation Club. Edward enjoyed fishing and bowling. Edward bowled with the Z.B. Falcons Men's Bowling League and was known to his teammates as "Big Ed." ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend, assisted the family. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008, at 10 a.m. in St. Casimir Catholic Church.
