SOUTH BEND - Robert Michael Anthony, 87, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016, in Memorial Hospital. Robert was born June 28, 1928, in Gary, Indiana, to the late Michael and Sophia (Abbenseth) Anthony. He was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Leonard Kubiak. On November 8, 1975, Robert married his loving wife Shirley Ann (Skibinski) Anthony; she survives along with his sisters, Joan Kubiak, Barbara (Jack) Cavanagh of Brownsburg, IN; nephews, Robert (Kathy) Cavanagh of West Harrison, IN, Kenneth (Darlene) Cavanagh of Brownsburg, IN, John (Tammy) Cavanagh of Silver Lake, MI, Paul (Leah) Cavanagh of Brownsburg; great-nephew, Taylor Cavanagh of Denver, CO; great-nieces, Katie Cavanagh of Ann Arbor, MI, & Laura Cavanagh of Brownsburg, IN; and god-daughter, Kaley Kubiak of South Bend. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Culver High School and Tri-State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in accounting degree. In 1983, after 30 years of employment, Robert retired from Bendix-Allied Signal where he was a supervisor in the accounting department. He was a parishioner and an usher of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Robert was a member of the Bendix Salaried Retiree's Club and Volunteered for Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE). He enjoyed golfing, reading and listening to classical music. Visitation for Robert is 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, June 9, 2016, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd., with a Rosary to be prayed at 3:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Friday, June 10, 2016, in Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St Joseph Cemetery.
