George Szynski aged 84 of 1221 West Jefferson blvd died 8:30 pm Tuesday in his home after an illness of two weeks. Born in Poland March22,1864 He came to South Bend from that country 48 years ago. Surviving are four daughters Mrs. Stella Pluta, Mrs.Angela Kujawski,Mrs.Hattie Galvas. and Mrs Selma Conery, all of South Bend; a brother, Jacob of New Carlisle, this county a sister,Mrs Kusz of South Bend; 27 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

I found enough proof to verify that Ignacy Bartkowiak and Frances (Bartkowiak) Szynski are brother and sister by locating her name on the 1820-1948 Baltimore List. Frances is listed with her husband Wojciech and about 4 children. Frances lists Ignacy as her brother and lists 443 Walnut, South Bend, IN as her destination.

Frances arrived in the US in April 1900 on the ship HH Meier out of Bremen, Germany into the Port of Baltimore, Maryland. She lists her last residence as Posen. She arrived at the age of 33 years.
