SOUTH BEND - Emma Urgonski, 91, a longtime resident of South Bend, Indiana, and in later years of Epoch Assisted Living and longterm care in Brewster, Massachusetts, died January 3rd of age-related causes. She was the loving wife of Bill Urgonski and devoted mother of Ricky and Terry Urgonski, who predeceased her. She was the daughter of Stephen and Rose Bella of South Bend, and the sister of Victor, Steve, Gene (Yam), Gaza, and Ray, who also predeceased her. Emma was a homemaker, but also worked at many jobs, including Studebaker Corporation and volunteering at the library binding books. Vegetable and flower gardening along with stained glass work and watching Notre Dame football were her passions. She cared deeply for people and lived by her motto of doing one good deed a day. She is survived by her beloved son, Gary Urgonski, and his wife, Virginia Reiser; her devoted sister and brother, Helen Buti and Elmer Bella; her dear friends, Dan and Vicki Odar, and their sons; her beloved goddaughter, Melissa Odar, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A viewing will be held at Kaniewski Funeral Home in South Bend, Indiana, on Tuesday, Jan. 8, from 4-6, and a Mass at St. Hedwig Church will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 10:00.
