[N3304] Peter V. Majeski Sr.
April 5, 1925 - March 15, 2011
MISHAWAKA - Peter V. (Myzejewski) Majeski Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at 6:00 a.m. at home on March 15th, 2011. Peter V. (Myzejewski) Majeski was born on April 5th, 1925, at home in East Chicago, Indiana, to the late Adolf Myzejewski, and his mother, Jennie (Rudzinski) Myzejewski, "who he loved so very much." Peter V. Majeski married Rosemary Talbot on October 15, 1955. They were married for 52 years and are survived by three children: one daughter, Dian (Majeski) Mize of South Bend IN, and two sons, Peter V. Majeski II and wife, Angela of Camby, IN, and Bruce Douglas Majeski of South Bend, IN; and five grandchildren, Andrew, Michelle, Renee and Matthew Majeski, and Jaden Mize; and one great-granddaughter, Mayah Mize. Peter V. Majeski Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Rosemary, and sister, Hariett Myzejewski. He is survived by brother, Ted Myzejewski, and sister, Severa (Myzejewski) Davis. Peter graduated with honors from Washington High School in East Chicago, IN, class of 1943, where he served as a Student Defense Attorney, Fire Marshall, member of the Debate Team, and on staff for the weekly "Anvil" school newspaper. After graduating from high school, Peter V. (Myzejewski) Majeski proudly served his country during W.W.II as a United States Marine. Peter faithfully executed his duty as a photo-analyst in the South Pacific as a Marine which provided such important information for Military Targets. This generation was better known as the "Greatest Generation" of all time, the "Fight For Freedom" and "Victory comes next." After America had won W.W.II, Peter was "Honorably Discharged" from the Marine Corps, and enrolled at Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. Peter graduated from Indiana University with a bachelor's degree in business which allowed him to fulfill his dream of owning a theatre. He reopened the Calumet Theatre in East Chicago before transferring his interest to his elder brother Ted so that he could pursue a career with the Sunbeam Corporation during which time Peter excelled in sales, setting all-time "sales records" in the company's history. This led him being pursued by Lux Clock Company in Waterbury, CONN./ Robertshaw Controls where he found another challenge and pursued that for 24 years during which time he worked his way to the top and became Regional Sales Manager with responsibility and interest in many states. Peter, being a "Marine," was a forward thinker in the World of Business and was not afraid of a challenge. This led him to start and build a company in Recycling Metals in New York. After 25 years of long and hard work put forth in building this company from the ground up, he retired, which allowed Peter to spend time with his wife and family. Peter enjoyed traveling with his family, spending quality time camping in Canada with his sons, family vacations to the old south and to the West. Peter enjoyed his hunting and fishing in MN. Peter found a passion for the game of golf that made him an avid golfer who won several Senior Golf Tournaments through the years. Peter loved and enjoyed the company of his buddies (pets), "Oscar," "Smokie" and "Mickie." Note from Peter's son, Bruce: "Love to my Father, even though you're on a journey to a better place, I am sad but am proud to have had you as my father, and grateful for the time we had together. I was proud to stand at your side as your son." Thank You for being my Father, All My Love, Your son, Bruce Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 5, 2011, at St. Anthony dePadua Catholic Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation or to St. Jude's Children's' Research Hospital, Memphis, TN. Online condolences may be sent to www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
