Osceola, IN - Patrick Michael Samonie, 71, quietly passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Center for Hospice Care’s Elkhart Hospice House. Patrick was born on January 24, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Michael Joseph and Rose Mary (Miecki) Samonie, who preceded Pat in death. On June 15, 1991, he married the love of his life, Marguerite Youngman who survives along with his children, Dawn (John) Kenney of Detroit, Tina (Gary) Coleman of Osceola, and Michael (Maria) Samonie of Detroit. Also surviving are his sisters Patsy (Gary) Killingworth, Marilyn (Rob) Kaleniecki, Carolyn (Wayne) Long, Sharon Hill who all live in the Detroit area, mother-in-law Marguerite Green of Mesa, AZ, five grandchildren, and his faithful and loving canine companion, Zowy. Pat loved music, especially jazz and enjoyed playing the saxophone in three different bands throughout his life. He was never shy about singing and dancing when the mood struck, much to the enjoyment of those in his company. And he loved automobiles of all kinds, especially his prized project, his 1979 Corvette. Pat was an avid fan of The University of Michigan and all teams “Detroit”, and loved enjoying weekends in South Haven, MI with wife Marguerite. He also was an enthusiastic and accomplished bowler for most of his life and enjoyed competing in several local leagues. Graphic Design and Sales were his vocational joys and he was always eager to use his skills to help both customers and co-workers succeed. He was employed by Jamil Packaging Corporation in Mishawaka, IN, for more than 26 years. A memorial service will be held at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 2 pm., with visitation 2 hours prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, 130 Red Coach Dr., Mishawaka, IN 46545
