SOUTH BEND - Stephanie J. Emmons, 73, of South Bend, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2017, in Memorial Hospital. Stephanie was born April 8, 1944, in South Bend. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Stephen Emmons in 1964, her parents, Rose M. (Nagy) and Stephen L. Gyuriak, a sister, Rose Mary Takacs, and her in-laws, Robert and Ellen Emmons. On August 11, 1962, in South Bend, Stephanie Gyuriak married Jackie L. Emmons, who survives. Also surviving are one son, John Michael (Janie) Emmons of Edwardsburg, MI, and two daughters, Gail (Robert) Durm of Niles and Melissa Emmons (Frank Chapman) of Westlake Village, CA, seven grandchildren, Meaggie Emmons (Scott Reust), John Emmons Jr., William Emmons, Elizabeth Durm (Reid Welsh), Zachary (Devin) Durm, Alexandra (Gregory) Nelson, and Emma Durm, two great-grandchildren, Liam Durm and Maddox Nelson, two sisters, Shirley (Fred) Prekosovich of Cheshire, CT, and Patricia Guy of South Bend, and brother-in-law, Carl Takacs of Cuyahouga Falls, OH. Stephanie was a woman of strong faith, and was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Parish where she taught religious education and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was a talented musician who enjoyed playing the piano and classical guitar, loved classical music, literature, Shakespeare, gardening, and bird watching. Stephanie loved her family and had great pleasure in watching them grow and took great pride in their successes. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 till 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 4th, at Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. Services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Father Vincent Coppola, C.S.C., officiating. Burial will follow at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Granger.
