[N13492] Jean Marie Gryp
Oct. 16, 1927 - Oct. 23, 2015
SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Jean Marie Gryp died peacefully in her sleep in Scottsdale, Arizona on October 23, one week after celebrating her 88th birthday. Jean is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Ted, along with her three children, Tom (Patty) Gryp of Granger, Indiana, David (Tina) Gryp of Scottsdale, Arizona and Julie (Joe) LaMantia of Scottsdale, Arizona. Jean also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren, David (Meghann) Gryp, Sarah Gryp, Austyn Gryp, Julia Gryp, Emily LaMantia and Megan LaMantia. Jean was born on October 16, 1927 in South Bend, Indiana and was the eldest of three children to Larry and Irene Graf, who preceded her in death. Surviving is her sister, Larene Hark of Rice, Minnesota and Mike (Judy) Graf of South Bend. Jean's life can be best described as one devoted to her Catholic faith and her family. Both Jean and Ted sacrificed and did what was necessary to ensure their children received Catholic educations and college degrees, something they were both very proud of. Jean was considered the "second mom" by many of her children's friends, who were always welcome into her home. When their children married and began families in Arizona, Jean and Ted also relocated to Arizona to ensure they could enjoy watching their grandchildren grow. The 20 years Jean spent in Arizona made her an integral part of the lives of her grandchildren. If there was a soccer game, baseball game or dance recital, "Nana Jean" was sure to be there, cheering them on! All will deeply miss her smile, laughter and unconditional love. Private services are pending. Published in South Bend Tribune from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, 2015
