SOUTH BEND - Louis "Louie" Casmier Burzynski, 82, of South Bend, IN, passed away Monday, November 9, 2009, at Hospice House in South Bend. Louie was born on March 4, 1927, in South Bend, to John and Mary (Urbanski) Burzynski. He retired from the South Bend Fire Department and then from the St. Joseph County Health Department. Surviving are his children, Barbara Ellen, Sue Ann (Robin) Hardy, Jean Marie Patton, all of Bradenton, Florida; grandchildren, Alexander Hardy, Carson Hardy, Jacob Mougin, Joshua Mougin, Jennifer Bourgess; a sister, Virginia (Jordan) Grams of Mishawaka, IN; several nieces and nephews. Louie was preceded in death by his son, Michael Mougin in 2000; sisters, Henrietta Burzynski and Lucille Tilman; and brothers, Chester and Stanley Burzynski. Louie was a WW II Army veteran, a member of V.F.W. Post 8748 and American Legion Post 303. He was a member of the Y.M.C.A. and was an avid handball and racquetball player. He was a former racquetball city champion. He graduated from South Bend Catholic High School. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 15, from 2-5 p.m. in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 16, 2009, at 11 a.m. in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
