Oct. 20, 1919-May 27, 1996 SOUTH BEND - Harriet R. Podemski, 76, of Longley Avenue, died at 11:05 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph’s Medical Center. Mrs. Podemski retired from Bendix Corp. She was born Oct. 20, 1919, in South Bend. On Oct. 12, 1946, in South Bend, as Harriet Reiter, she married Harry J. Podemski. He died Dec. 21, 1992. She is survived by two daughters, Marcia Yakim of Koontz Lake and Joanne Podemski of South Bend; three granddaughters; and two sisters, Henrietta Reiter and Loretta Ritschard, both of Osceola. A son, James, died Oct. 27, 1950. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Indiana Bird Fanciers, Rosary Sodality of St. Hedwig Catholic Church, and Bendix Local 9 Retirees. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church choir or Indiana Bir Fanciers.
