GOSHEN - Richard Joseph Putz, 89, of Goshen, IN, formerly of Mishawaka, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Courtyard Health Care in Goshen, with his sons at his bedside. Richard was born in South Bend, IN, on June 30, 1923 to the late Joseph John and Bernice (Moskwinski) Putz. On October 19, 1946 Richard married the former Dorothy Adams in Mishawaka, IN. Richard and Dorothy were married for 58 years. Dorothy passed away on May 29, 2004. Richard was a resident of Mishawaka for 60 years, until he moved to Goshen. Two sons, Richard L. (Marcia) Putz of Goshen and James E. (Nanette) Putz of Elkhart survive Richard. Richard was a grandfather to 6 grandchildren, Keegan Putz of Mishawaka, Clinton Putz of Osceola, Levon Putz of Grove City, OH, Jami Putz of Columbus, OH, Sara (Andrew) Jewett of Elkhart, and Rebecca Putz of Goshen, IN; and great-grandfather to 7 great-grandchildren, Collin, Alaina Putz, Lucy, Jack Joseph, Rosilynn, Olive Jewett and Landon Putz. Grandson Joshua Putz preceded Richard in death. Richard is also survived by a brother, Robert Putz of Crumstown, IN. Richard served his country in the Army Air Corps "Flying Tigers". He was an avid amateur radio operator even after the service. He retired as a Master Inspector at Torrington Company in South Bend, after 28 years of service. He was a former member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church. There will be no visitation; a private family graveside service will be held today. Bubb Funeral Chapel assisted the family with the arrangements.
