Frank Davoli
Sept. 8, 1959 - July 31, 2017
MISHAWAKA - He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Valerie (Winebrenner) Davoli; daughter, EmmaLinda of Granger; son, Frank of Mishawaka; parents, Frank and Rita Davoli of Lorain, OH; brothers, John of Fostoria, OH, and Joe of Sandusky, OH; and many nieces and nephews, He was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Barto of Sheffield Lake, OH, and baby sister, Andrea. Frank was an avid golfer, and was fortunate to enjoy many golf adventures. He placed in the top three at most tournaments, and won many more. Frank had the pleasure of playing the “great courses” such as Pebble Beach, Sawgrass, and Pinehurst, with celebrities, pro golfers and his beloved industry friends. But no golf event was more important to him than his every Saturday round of golf with his closest friends and business colleagues at his home course, Juday Creek. Frank graduated from Admiral King High School in 1979, and tried his hand cooking at The Nest Restaurant in Vermilion, OH, before becoming a meat cutter at the local IGA. Once introduced to the grocery industry, Frank quickly learned all aspects of the grocery and convenient store distribution business. Frank accelerated through the ranks and served in leadership roles at George Canalos, Inc., J. F. Walker Co., Inc. (Ohio), Spartan Stores, Inc. (Michigan), and Tripifoods, Inc. (New York), before happily settling in South Bend, Indiana, enjoying a rewarding career at Richmond Master Distributors. Frank was an industry icon, a brilliant strategist and analyst, topped off with a great sense of humor. In 2016, Frank received the IAWD Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to the convenience distribution industry. He will be greatly missed by the entire industry. Frank always pursued his passion for cooking, and the feasts he prepared are legendary. In addition to his passion for work, cooking and golf, what Frank loved most was being at home with his family. Frank took great pride in providing for his family, and spoiling his wife, who will miss him dearly.
Abiding by Frank's wishes, there will be no memorial service or funeral. Instead, it was his wish that friends and family gather to celebrate life, remember, and party, in Frank's name. Hahn Funeral Home, Mishawaka, has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
