MISHAWAKA - Mary A. Melchiorre, 97, of Mishawaka, IN, passed away at 3:00 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016, at the Pyramid Point Nursing Home in Indianapolis, IN. Mary was born on September 21, 1918, in South Bend, IN, to Ross Trimboli and Eugenia Portolese Trimboli. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Eugenia Trimboli. By her husband, Victor Melchiorre, by her three sisters, Rose Papandrea, Eugenia Bilello and Rita Albright. She is survived by her son, Victor Melchiorre Jr., of Indianapolis, IN; her brother, Joseph Trimboli of Mishawaka; a sister, Patricia Hurd of Niles, MI; many nieces and nephews; and her cousin, Nancy Germano. She belonged to St. Monica Catholic Church and was a member of the Rosary Society of St. Monica's. She was a member of the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Mishawaka, where she was a volunteer for over 30 years. She was a past president of the Daughters of DiLoreto Club. She worked at the former Ball Band Plant during World War II and was a bookkeeper for the Local 65 Union Office before retiring. She was a crossing guard at Beiger School for a couple of years. Many times she worked at her husband's law office when his secretary was on vacation. She attended the former College of Commerce in South Bend. She loved to dance and went to Battell Center for Line Dancing every week.
She loved plays and with her husband Vic, they belonged to the Broadway Theater League for 25 years. She loved to cook, especially Italian dishes for her family. She enjoyed traveling to foreign countries with her husband and son. She loved the cruises on the big ships. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation for Mary will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where there will be a Rosary recited at 4:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016, at St. Monica Catholic Church, 222 West Mishawaka Avenue, Mishawaka, where there will be visitation from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Father Jacob Meyer will officiate with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mishawaka. Published in South Bend Tribune on July 8, 2016
