Elvira E. Trimboli July 1, 1930 - Oct. 20, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Elvira E. "Dolly" Trimboli, 84, passed away on Monday, October 20 in Milton Home, South Bend. Elvira was born on July 1, 1930 in Chicago, IL to Peter B. and Elvira I. (Schlau) Metzdorf. She was preceded in death by her parents. On February 27, 1954 in Chicago she married Joseph R. Trimboli. Surviving are her loving husband, Joseph; children, Ross (Suzanne) Trimboli of Mishawaka, Peter (Mary) Trimboli of Mishawaka and Lynn (Gregg) Hixenbaugh of Mishawaka; and five grandchildren, Mia Trimboli of Mishawaka, Stephen Trimboli of Houston, TX, Kevin Trimboli of Mishawaka, Mitchell Hixenbaugh of Bloomington, IN and Michael Hixenbaugh of Mishawaka. Elvira attended Lakeview High School in Chicago where she graduated with Honors; she graduated from Mac Murray College for Women where she studied English and History and received her Master's Degree in Counseling and Guidance from Indiana University. She was a Charter Member of Psi Iota Xi, Business Manager with the First English Lutheran Preschool for 30 years as well as one of it's founders. She worked for Dr. Richard Schaphorst, and Houser, Norberg and McGregor. Elvira was honored with a life membership in the state PTA Association. She was also a former member of School City Board of Trustees, she held offices in Bingham, Beiger and Mishawaka High School PTA chapters and the PTA Council. She was chairman of a PULSE citizens committee investigating the public schools and co-chairman of the smoke alarm project, so successful it was adopted as a nationwide model by the Congress of Parents and Teachers. She was also a substitute teacher and taught outdoor camping at Camp Eberhart. Visitation for Elvira will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 23 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Friday, October 24 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, in First English Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Zell officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. The family would like to thank the staff of Milton Home and the staff of Harbor Light Hospice for their loving and caring support.
