Eleanor A. Zmyslo
January 11, 1927 - July 3, 2022
Eleanor A. (Zmyslo) Zielinski, 95, of South Bend IN passed on to the Lord peacefully in her sleep at Story Point Senior Living. Eleanor was born on January 11, 1927 in South Bend to the late Harriet (Maj) and Frank Zmyslo. She is survived by her brother Harry (Lottie) Zmyslo and her sister Ann Zmyslo. On May 29, 1948, at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church she married the love of her life, Egbert Ed (Greenie) Zielinski who preceded her in death in 2012. She is survived by three of her four children: Mike (Debbie) of Mishawaka, Jim (Joany) of South Bend, Debbie (Dale) Whipple of South Bend, and David Zielinski who preceded her in death in Nov. 2021. She had five grandchildren: Adam Zielinski, April (Bill) Vanslager, Alex Zielisnki & Calvin Zielinski, Sarah (David) Ferrier and 6 great-grandchildren, Abrielle Zielinski, Caiden, Avah and Soren Vanslager, and Dawson and Walker Ferrier. She attended and graduated from South Bend Catholic High School in 1945. She was employed by Winkowski Insurance, and the South Community School Corp. for many years in the food service department. She was a long-time member of the Daughters of Isabella Notre Dame Circle, Golden Cluster at St. Hedwig, and Harvest House and Sister’s Auxiliary at St. Adalbert. She enjoyed cooking and baking but especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed Notre Dame Football, bus trips with her husband around the country, casinos and of course dancing. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank the staff at Story Point and Heart to Heart Hospice for their caring and devotion. Friends may visit with the family Friday, July 8, 2022 from 9:00am-10:00am at St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:30am at St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church, 2505 W. Grace St. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.
