On Sep. 9, 1919, Rev. Joseph M. Scherer, C. S. C., pastor of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in South Bend, Indiana, married Anthony Hickey and Barbara Tschida. The marriage applications they filed with the county add the following: Anthony Hickey, a carpenter in South Bend, was born Aug. 14, 1896 in South Bend to Eli & Pearl (Rudduck) Hickey. Barbara Tschida, an employee at Oliver's in South Bend, was born Jan 14, 1899 in South Bend to Anthony & Mary (Eble) Tschida. It was the first marriage for both of them.
