SOUTH BEND - Dorothy V. Varga, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, December 13, 2015 in her home surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born February 25, 1922 in Reading, PA to the late James and Gertrude (Undercoffler) Ruffner. On May 11, 1946 in Reading, PA Dorothy married Steve Varga; he preceded her in death on May 22, 2010. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her sisters, Marjorie Noll and Catherine Wood; and brothers, Forest, Henry and James Ruffner. Survivors of Dorothy include her children, Rick (Tina) Varga of Granger and Charmaine Varga of South Bend; grandchildren, Jeff (Missy) Varga, Lisa Varga and Shane (Amy) Varga; great-grandson, Christian and great-granddaughters; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dorothy attended the Milton Adult Day Care. She was a Member of Sonlight Fellowship Wesleyan Church in South Bend. Dorothy enjoyed embroidery, making ceramics, gardening and cooking. She was known for her witty sense of humor. Most of all, Dorothy enjoyed attending her grandchildren's activities. On Dorothy's 92nd birthday, she got to meet her first great-grandson, Christian; my how she smiled from ear to ear. Visitation for Dorothy is 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, December 15, 2015 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 1827 E. Ireland Rd. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, December 16, 2015 in the funeral home with visitation 1 hour prior to the service at 9:00 am. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to Hospice Foundation. Published in South Bend Tribune on Dec. 15, 2015
