SOUTH BEND - Mr. Charles Edward “Charlie” Hipsak, 67, of Las Vegas, NV and formerly of South Bend, passed away at his Las Vegas home on Sept. 6, 2016. He was born September 3, 1949 in South Bend to the late Michael A. and Mary M. (Jordanich) Hipsak, and went on to marry Jacqueline “Jackie” Eppert on July 9, 1988. She survives her at home along with daughters, Kish Stephanie and Emily Rose Hipsak. Also surviving are his brothers, Michael (Charlene) Hipsak of Mishawaka and Edward (Gynette) Bueche of Hanceville, AL, as well as several nieces and nephews.Chuck's life will be celebrated at Zahoran Funeral Home of South Bend on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 from 2-6 pm with a brief memorial service at 5:30 pm. In accordance with his wishes, Chuck has been cremated. Charlie had retired as Bell Captain at the Plaza and El Cortez Hotels and Casinos in Las Vegas, but had also worked at AM General and owned his own skycap business at the Michiana Regional Airport in his earlier years. After his retirement, he became involved with the Active Mobility Scooterbug (motorized wheelchair) company, where his hard work, loyalty and commitment made him a valuable employee. He was also trusted and well-liked by all of the Vegas-area Active Mobility clients. While Chuck will be best remembered for his humor, wit and loyal dedication to friends and family, he was also known for his passion for competitive bicycling, his friendly and easy-going demeanor that always endeared him to people, and his love for his daughters and family.
