SOUTH BEND - Ernest A. Meuninck Jr., 80, passed away on Saturday, March 1, at Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend. Ernest was born on December 1, 1933, in Mishawaka, as the son of Ernest and Mary (Martens) Meuninck. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Rudy, Charles, Albert and Fred. On August 6, 1960, in South Bend, he married the former Ruth Papczynski. She passed away on June 18, 2008. Surviving are his son, Michael (Karen) Meuninck of Granger; granddaughter, Lindsey N. Meuninck of Granger; a sister, Genevieve Goyles of Mishawaka; and a brother, Julius Meuninck of Mishawaka; and his loyal dog Princess. Ernest worked as a Postal Carrier for the South Bend Post Office for 36 years before he retired in 1994. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Notre Dame, River Park 303 American Legion, P.O. Union Branch 330. He was an avid golfer; he was a member of the Monday senior league at Sprig-O-Mint and Wednesday and Friday group of guys. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., with funeral service at 12 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
