MISHAWAKA - Americo "Lucky" Lucchi, 87, passed away Saturday, September 10th, at 5:39 a.m. in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Lucky was born on September 28, 1923, in Mishawaka, as the son of Aurelio and Aurelia (Beltramini) Lucchi. On January 21, 1943, in South Bend, he married the former Gizella Vargo; she preceded him in death on March 22, 2000, and a brother, John Luccki. He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Robert) Dygulski of Granger; two sons, Tom (Kim) Lucchi of Mishawaka and John (Cathy) Lucchi of Raymore, MO; four grandchildren, Denise (Mike) Heyveart, Deann Dygulski, Chad M (Angie) Lucchi and Kelly (Don) Sider; and eight great-grandchildren, Ella Lucchi, Blake Americo Lucchi, Dylan Heyveart, Lindsay Heyveart, Samuel Heyveart, Jacob Humes, Kevin Dobbs and Ashley Dobbs. Lucky was owner and operator of Lucky's Painting. He was a United States Army veteran, a member of St. Monica's Catholic Church, Mishawaka, VFW Post 360 in Mishawaka, DAV #6, Wander Conversation Club, and Michiana Walleye Association. Lucky will always be remembered for his love of his family and the great fishing Stories. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 4:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 14, at 1:00 p.m. in St. Monica's Catholic Church, with Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Military rites will be conducted by VFW 360 / American Legion 161 Burial Squad. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Michiana Walleye Association.
