SOUTH BEND - John L. Nemeth, 90, passed away at 7:20 pm, Monday, October 26, 2015 in Memorial Hospital. John was born November 20, 1924 in South Bend to the late John and "Peggy" (Bawens) Nemeth. John is also preceded in death by a son, James Nemeth. On August 30, 1980 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church John married his loving wife of 35 years Geraldine (Galantine) Nemeth; she survives along with his children, Deborah (John) Fields of South Bend, John R. (Kathy) Nemeth of North Carolina, Lisa (Alan) Elick of Fishers, and Denise Nemeth of Warsaw; grandchildren, Jamie, Daniel, John, Michelle, Ryan, Lindsay and Sage; and 5 great-grandchildren. John honorably served his country in the United States Army Air corps during WWII. He was employed with Kuert Concrete for 30+ years and retired in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion Post 50 and Ushered for Notre Dame Football games for 20 years. John was a very hard worker, a handyman and a very funny person who always had a smile for everyone. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool and telling stories repeatedly. His granddaughter titled him the "Checker Champion", as they played many games and he never lost. Most of all John loved dancing with his wife; time spent with his great-granddaughter, Alayah and dearly loved family. Visitation for John will be 9:30 am to 10:30 am, Saturday, October 31, 2015 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Memorial Service at 10:30am.
