MISHAWAKA - Carla Bice, 69, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015, in Loyola University Hospital in Chicago. Carla was born on May 31, 1946, in Quincy, MA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Popiolek, and a son, Dwayne Bice. On August 31, 1974, in Mishawaka, as Carla Hurd, she married Gerald Bice. Surviving are her husband, Gerald; children, John (Roxie) Bice of Mishawaka, Matthew Bice of Mishawaka, Melissa Bice of Mishawaka, Mai Markiewicz of Elkhart, Brian Bice of Mishawaka and Lee Bice of Mishawaka; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Jurgenson and Amber Bice, Cameron Markiewicz, Ayrien Bingaman, Austin, Alix and Evin Bice; two great-grandchildren, Harper Markiewicz and Phebie Jurgenson; her sister, Jackie McAlister of Baltimore, MD, John Popiolek of South Bend, and Jimmy Popiolek of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Carla was a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Medical Center and was the Director of the Chapin Street Clinic, Sister Maura Brannick CSC Health Center in South Bend. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mishawaka and The Hearts for Haiti Foundation. Visitation will be on Wednesday, September 16, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be on Thursday, September 17, at 11:00 a.m. in First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, 201 E. 3rd Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sister Maura Brannick, CSC, Health Center, 326 Chapin St., South Bend, IN 46601.
