Reginia Barack, 83, of Mishawaka, Indiana died Thursday, January 3, 2002, in Tanglewood Trace Retirement Center. Regina was born in Hungary on May 3, 1918, to Morris and Gertrude (Genet) Katz. On August 25, 1939, in Chicago, Illinois, she married Max G. Barack who died on March 29, 2001. Her parents also preceded her in death, along with her two sons, Dr. Leonard Barack in 1981 and Leslie Barack in 1943; her daughter-in-law, Susan B. Barack in 2000; and two sisters, Ruth Katz and Fannie Leaderman. Surviving Regina is her son, Alan J. Barack of McHenry, Illinois; two grandchildren, P. Tyson (Ruann) Barack and Marcy Elizabeth Barack, both of McHenry, Illinois; and a brother, Dr. Sam Katz of South Bend. Mrs. Barack retired after many years from the South Bend Community School Corp. as a 4th grade teacher at Harrison Elementary School. She was a member of Sinai Synagogue, the Sisterhood of Sinai Synagogue, past president of Hadassah and the School Mens Wife Association. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, January 4 at Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery. Rabbi Michael Friedland of Sinai Synagogue officiated. There was no visitation. FOREST G. HAY FUNERAL HOME is in charge of Mrs. Barack's arrangements. Memorial contributions may be given to Sinai Synagogue.
