CINCINNATI, OH - Mary Ellen DuBois died peacefully, surrounded by family, of natural causes on December 12, 2020 at 12:45pm in her home. She was born February 2, 1931 in Blackford County, Indiana, the daughter of Howard Martin Stroble and Ellen (Willman) Stroble. She was one of ten children and the last surviving sibling. Mary Ellen graduated from Hartford City High School and Ball State Teacher's College. Following graduation, she taught at Mishawaka High School for five years. Midway through her teaching career, Mary Ellen met and married her sweetheart, William (Bill) H. DuBois on September 2, 1956. They worked in tandem as entrepreneurial business partners for DuBois Importing Company and celebrated 55 years of marriage upon Bill's death in 2011. Mary Ellen was a loyal member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in South Bend, Indiana. She enjoyed all things related to family, grandchildren and living life to its fullest. She spent her later years visiting family, taking cruises, attending concerts, and spending time with her local Bridge Club friends. She was exemplary as a wife, mother-in-law, grandparent, family member and friend. Mary Ellen was generous, loving, and creative. She will be missed by all who knew her. Survivors include two sons and their families: Kent DuBois and his wife Darlen of TN, and Mark DuBois and his wife Beth of OH. Surviving grandchildren include: Jason (IL), Hannah and her husband Raiko (TN), Lydia (VA), Caleb (TN), Steven and his wife Ashley (OH), and David (OH). She had one great-grandchild, Thomas, born to Hannah and her husband. There are also many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Due to COVID-19 and winter conditions, a service of remembrance will be held in Mishawaka, Indiana during the Spring of 2021 at Saint Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
