KILLEEN, TX - Leon J Mroz, South Bend native, was called home on Monday, Jan. 30th, 2017. Leon and his wife Virginia (Vandervelt) Mroz retired to Killeen, Texas. Leon was preceded in being called home by his parents, Bert & Pauline (Dutrieux) Mroz; his brother, Melvin Mroz; previous wife, Young Cha (Kim) Mroz; and countless friends & military brothers. Leon served as a 101st Airborne Special Forces Green Beret and Rigger with countless awards and medals for bravery honoring his country in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and had a full Military Service. Leon was retired from the Military, Security at AM General, and the South Bend Work Release. Leon is remembered by his wife, Virginia (Vandervelt) Mroz; Son, Richard Allen Mroz, & his wife, Toni (Hudgen)Mroz; their sons, Richard Leon Allen Mroz, Conner Mroz, Jared Mroz & Richards; daughters, Courtney Osborne & Alexandria Hearington, Daughter, April (Mroz) Adamson & her husband, Thomas Adamson; their children, Thomas Adamson, Ainsleigh Adamson, Nicholas Leon Adamson, & Rheese Adamson. Leon was a Hero to his Family and Country. He was a true outdoors-man who loved to fish, hunt and trap from an early age. He was a loyal, loving husband, father and friend.
