SOUTH BEND - Thomas J. Berndt, Jr., 67 years old, passed away at 1:10 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Kindred Hospital, South Bend. Thomas was born on May 9, 1946 in Hamlet, IN to the late Thomas J. "Hap" and Ruby (Armentrout) Berndt, Sr. He formerly lived in Plymouth and Lakeville. On October 11, 1969 in Hamlet, he married Rosemary E. Hicks. Survivors include his loving wife, Rosemary, and two daughters, Candy (Chris) Langton of Bremen, and Brandy (Kevin) Sauer of Lakeville; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Kailee, Allison, Ryan, Brandon (Julie), Seana, Taylor and Brianna; and two sisters, Loretta "Lonnie" Burger of South Bend and Margie Hite of Plymouth. Two sisters, Judy Younkin and Connie Simon, and two brothers, Paul and Lucky Berndt, all preceded in death. Thomas retired from Plymouth Fertilizer Company after 26 years of employment. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Palmer Funeral Home, 314 S. Michigan Street, Lakeville. Military services will follow. Friends may visit with the family from 3-5 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Thomas J.
