SOUTH BEND - Leonard S. Keen, 84, passed away on Thursday, November 23, 2017 in Hamilton Grove Nursing Facility, New Carlisle. Lenny was born April 28, 1933 in Michigan City, to the late Alex and Cecelia (Tomaszewski) Keen. On August 17, 1957, Lenny married his loving wife, Marguerite (Benhart) Keen; she preceded him in death. Lenny was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Christian Keen; and a brother, Eugene Keen. Lenny is also survived by his children, Steve (Kimberly) Keen, Judy (Todd) Borsodi, Donald (Theresa) Keen, and John Keen; grandchildren, Andrew (Rachel Huge), Alicia, Alex, Austin, Adam (Ray Hepler) Lazo, Tim Borsodi, Dylan, Spencer (Kayla), Tylor, Makenzie, Gretchen, Jessica, Matthew, Kevin (Arin) and Kory (Brooke) Keen, Doug (Meredith) and Michael Wolbeck, and Kristi O'Brien; great-grandchildren, Joey, Baby J. and Adison Lazo, Korbyn, Kyler, Carter, Caston, Cayden, and Braxton Keen, Kaylee and Kaitlyn O'Brien, Jacob and Elliot Wolbeck. Lenny honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a graduate of the FAA-Air Traffic Controller School. Lenny was then employed with the Federal FAA where he was a Flight Service Specialist until retiring in 1989. He then purchased Lenny's Bar, which he owned until 2001. Lenny then went to work for the South Bend Medical Foundation as a courier until final retirement in 2013. Lenny was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion Post, Boy Scouts, 4H, and Matthy's Little League. Lenny enjoyed farming and being with his family with an occasional trip to the boat. Visitation for Lenny will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Monday, November 27, 2017 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. with a Rosary to be prayed at 4:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will take place at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Three Oaks, MI.
