Sept. 18, 1917 - April 6, 2012 SOUTH BEND - Valentine W. Sparazynski, 94, formerly of The Milton Home in South Bend, IN, passed away at 3:28 p.m. Friday, April 6, 2012, at the West Bend Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in South Bend. He was born on September 18, 1917, to the late Boleslaw and Celia (Lesniewicz) Sparazynksi in South Bend, IN, and had lived here most of his life. Along with his parents, one sister, Zosia Meyer of Poland, and one brother, Stanley Sparazynksi of Poland, also preceded him in death. Mr. Sparazynksi retired in 1982 from Raco. He worked for Studebaker until 1963, and then worked for Raco as a press operator from 1963-1982, retiring at the age of 65. He is survived by several nieces & nephews, and several cousins, including Stanley (Ruth) Sparazynksi of South Bend, IN. Valentine was a member of St. Adalbert Parish, St. Joseph Young Men's Society, and American Legion Pulaski Post #357. He loved to play cards. Valentine was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving his country from 1940-1945. Valentine was one of the first people in St. Joseph County to volunteer to serve his country. The family would like to thank the staff at the West Bend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center - especially the Avenue of Reflection for the special care they provided for Valentine and his family. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, South Bend. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, where military services will be conducted by American Legion Pulaski Post #357. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Center for Hospice Care, Inc., 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637. To send condolences, please visit
