ELKHART - Joyce J. Palmero, 80, of Elkhart, died Saturday, June 11, 2016, at Miller's Merry Manor, Wakarusa. Joyce was born on September 13, 1935, in Elkhart, to Elmer A. and Josephine (Lochmondy) Baker. On October 19, 1957, she married Joseph A. Palmero at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. He survives. Joyce is also survived by daughters, Mary Joan Reitz (James), Goshen, and Margaret Ann Palmero, Nappanee; granddaughters, Tiffany Hunsberger (Lloyd C.), Osceola, and Taylar Reitz, Goshen; great-grandchildren, Hadley Taylar and Lloyd Henry Hunsberger; sister, Patricia Lester, NC; several nieces and nephews; and a family friend, Penny Huffer, Nappanee. She was preceded in death by brothers, Elmer Baker, Jr. and John Baker. Joyce was employed with G.L. Perry's for 16 years as a clerk before retiring in 1996. She was a former member of the Rosary Society at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, past member of the Sweet Adelines, Elkhart Writers Club and the Friendly Pioneers. She was a member of St. Stanlislaus Catholic Church. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 Friday, June 17, 2016, at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home. A Requiem Mass will be held at 11 am Saturday, June 18, 2016, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, South Bend, with Monsignor John Fritz officiating. Burial will follow at St. Vincent Cemetery, Elkhart. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Center for Hospice and St. Stanislaus Catholic Church.
