South Bend - Leonard “Bud” Marion Szymanski, 65, passed away on Sunday, April 15, 2018 in Healthwin Nursing Facility. Leonard was born August 27, 1952 in South Bend to Marion and Lily (Bencsics) Kasznia. Marion passed away before Leonard’s birth and was then adopted by Louis “Dick” Szymanski when he married Lily. He is preceded in death by both his fathers. Surviving Leonard are his mother, Lily Szymanski; a sister, Laura (Joseph) Jakubowicz; brothers, Larry (Sharon) Szymanski, and Lou (Tina) Szymanski; and many dear nephews. Bud honorably served his country in the United States Army. He worked many years in law enforcement for various agencies. Bud enjoyed skydiving while in the military then sailing in his later years. He was very close to his siblings and nephews and deeply cherished his mother. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, April 30, 2018 in Holy Family Catholic Church, South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am. ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. is assisting the family. Condolences for the family may be made at www.sjfh.net.
