SOUTH BEND - There will be no services or visitation for Bessie Bazata, 91, of St. Paul's Retirement Community, who died at 1:54 a.m. Sunday in Memorial Hospital after an illness. Cremation will take place. McGann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 1, 1903, in Czechoslovakia, and lived in South Bend since 1985, coming from Chicago.
On June 18, 1925, in Chicago, as Bessie Vlk, she married Charles Bazata Sr. He died Feb. 18, 1987. She is survived by a son, Charles A. of Cassopolis; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
