Mike Leonakis, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Evelyn and son Dean (Lynda) Leonakis; daughter: Christine Valenta and son: George (Celina) Leonakis; cherished grandfather to Michael (Catherine) Leonakis, Kara (Adam) Norman, Lauren (Michael) Folkmann, Stephen Valenta and Justine and Christian Leonakis; great grandson: Thomas Casey, and several loving nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Christina Leonakis; brother, Otto Leonakis and sisters: Jane Sakelaris and Sophia Leonakis. Mike was born in Van Houten, NM and was a resident of Northwest Indiana for 75 years. His passion was his family and his grandchildren, attending as many sporting events and activities as possible. For decades he enjoyed sharing products from his vegetable garden with his family, friends, and neighbors. Donations may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church or a charity of your choice .
