SOUTH BEND - Joseph F. DeBuysser, 81, passed away on Sunday, September
23, 2007, in the home of Dennis and Julie DeBuysser with whom he resided. Joseph was born on May 14, 1926, to the late Alfons and Mary (Depuydt) DeBuysser. On January 27, 1947, he married Betty L. Frye, who preceded him in death on February 8, 1969. He is survived by his four children, Cathryn Chen of South Bend, Barbara DeBuysser of South Bend, Dennis (Julie) DeBuysser of South Bend and Ronald (Aileen) DeBuysser of Ohio; nine grandchildren, Cara DeBuysser-Lyons, Joel Szymanowski, Deanne Beaver, Kristi Taylor, Ronald Joseph DeBuysser, Wesley DeBuysser, Stacey Chen, Nicolette Young and Christopher Martin; five great-grandchildren;a sister, Elsie Huys of South Bend; and his brother, Francis (Irene) DeBuysser. Joseph was a firefighter for the City of South Bend and retired February 27, 1987. He was a lifelong resident of South Bend. He loved fishing in St. James City, FL, during the winter months and Catawba Island, OH, in the summer. Visitation will be today, September
26, 2007, from 3 to 8 p.m. in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Road, South Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated onThursday, September 27, 2007, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Catholic Church. There will be a gathering one hour prior in the funeral home, where we will have a procession to the church. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Memorial contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN 46637; or to the charity of donor's choice.
