[N12348] Peter Siupinski
Feb. 14, 1953 - Jan. 24, 2015
MISHAWAKA - Peter S. Siupinski, age 61, passed away Saturday, January 24th, at Hospice House of South Bend, Indiana, after an extended illness. He was born on February 14th, 1953, to Edward and Anne (Sknerski) Siupinski. He is survived by his three children, Kate (Kevin Dennis) Siupinski, Claire Siupinski and Mark Siupinski; sisters, Lee (John) Sergeant of South Bend and Renee (John) Dowd, also of South Bend; nieces, Ann (Matt) Hanover of South Bend and Beth (Jeff) Lattimer of Columbus, OH; and nephews, Jack Sergeant of South Bend and Ted Dowd of Chicago, IL. Our dad retired from Honeywell in April of 2014 after 21 years of employment. He loved being an electrician and was a proud brother of the IBEW Local 153. He was skilled in every aspect of construction, plumbing, electrical and auto work. He enjoyed letting us help him with home improvements and we were frequently employed as flashlight holders and runners when he needed additional tools for the job. He taught us it was ok to change a light bulb with the switch on, which was referred to as "working it hot." He reminded us that we were never to touch the radio in the truck, and only when we were licensed to drive could we pick the station. He taught us all to drive and each of us eventually figured out that we were never going to be allowed to pick the station, so we learned to love the Oldies. He spent much of his free time in his shop, working on his antique tractors. We asked endless questions about the tools and machinery, and he explained the uses of them all. There, we were employed as runners again, to bring cups of coffee for him from the house. He was an important part of our lives. He could be counted on to help us in every crisis, and was always on our side. He listened to our problems and cheered us in our accomplishments. Dad was a very social person, and it was a great comfort to him that friends and family were continuously stopping by and calling. We, as a family, are so grateful for the visits and time spent with dad over the past few months. Visitation for Peter will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, January 27, 2015, in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 28, 2015, in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. We would also like to thank the staff at Hospice who cared for dad, and answered our calls at all hours of the night and day. Special thanks to Connie, who helped us through this process the entire way. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Foundation, 4220 Edison Lakes Pkwy., Suite 210, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
