Henry J. Slott married Elizabeth C. Gartska at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avilla, Noble Co., IN, on Aug. 4, 1903. Henry J. Slott was born in Poland on Oct 28, 1870, and lived most of his life in St. Joseph, County, Indiana. When he died on Nov. 12, 1940, his survivors living in St. Joseph County included his wife Elizabeth Gartska slott whom he married in 1903; a son, Joseph W. Slott; a daughter Helen E. Slott; two brothers: Thomas and Joseph Slott; and three sisters: Mrs. Agnes Cierzniak, Mrs. John Kush, Mrs. Martin Shultz. He also had a sister, Mrs. Leo Starck, of Chicago. The services were held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in South Bend. -based on his obituary published Wed., Nov. 13, 1940 in the South Bend Tribune A daughter, Cecelia, preceded him on death. The list of his siblings in his obituary identifies him as a son of Jacob and Salomea Slott.
