[N34776] Judith Judy Ann Poczik Marquardt
April 11, 1947 - March 24, 2023

Judith ‘Judy’ Ann Marquardt, 75, passed away peacefully the morning of Friday, March 24, 2023. Born, raised, and lived in South Bend, IN, Judy was a beloved mother, grandmother, cousin and friend. She was born April 11, 1947 to parents Katherine (Kramer) and Joseph Poczik. She had a sister, Marcia, and a multitude of cousins. On February 13, 1965, she married the love of her life, Wayne Marquardt. They first grew their family with two sons, Jack and Kurt. She worked various jobs throughout her life, including at a dentist’s office, her husband’s tool and die shop, and after retirement - the jewelry counter at Kohl’s on the south side of town. When their sons were young, the family of four spent a lot of time at the racetrack, where Wayne raced and Judy sometimes navigated, winning several trophies that are scattered around the family homeAfter her grandchildren were born, she spent as much time as she could doting on them and baby-sitting in their younger years. Judy loved to travel, go to the movies and zoo, and go out for dinner. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Not one to sit still for long, she attended and volunteered her time at the paper pantry at Grace United Methodist Church. You could find her there almost every Sunday and multiple days of the week. She also volunteered at the Food Bank and Studebaker Museum, where she enjoyed taking her grandchildren to visit and attend their events, like the Easter ‘Bunny Brunch’ and the Oliver Mansion’s Christmas trees display. Judy loved deeply and was the boss of most everyone that she met. She was so very loved and will be very much missed. She is survived by her sons, Jack Marquardt (married Deb Marquardt) and Kurt Marquardt (married Katrina Marquardt); her grandchildren Brooke Marquardt, Jacob Marquardt, Sarah Marquardt and Katie Hertsel (married Zak Hertsel); and a future great-granddaughter. She is also survived by cousins on the Poczik and Kramer sides of the family. She is predeceased by her husband, Wayne Marquardt, who died April 19, 2013; her sister Marcia Graham; and her parents. A service celebrating the life of Judy will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend. Pastor James Clark from Grace United Methodist Church will officiate. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
