Obituary for Helen Castleman
Helen T. Castleman, 93, died Friday December 13, 2013 at Michiana Health & Rehabilitation Center in Mishawaka. The South Bend native was born October 12, 1920 to Joseph and Clara (Brzenski) Slazewski. Helen graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1938 and on April 12, 1941 she married Harold Castleman in South Bend. Harold preceded her in death on October 19, 1993. Helen retired from Osco and formerly worked at Walgreen's and Bruggner's. She was very family oriented and enjoyed playing bingo and euchre. In addition to her husband Harold, Helen was also preceded in death by her brothers, Walter Slazewski, John Slade, Joseph Slazewski and her sister, Lillian Szczhowski. Helen is survived by her sons, David (Sandra) Castleman of Granger and Michael (Marilyn) Castleman of Elkhart; her daughter Peggy A. Winston of South Bend; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. There are no services or calling at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Private burial in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
