Harold's Obituary
Oct. 16, 1924 - May 13, 2009
MISHAWAKA - Harold W. Chapman, 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 13th, in the Cardinal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. Harold was born on October 16, 1924, in Cainsville, MO, to Fred and Florence (Elmore) Chapman. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a daughter, Debbie White. On January 1, 1958, in Mishawaka, he married the former Loretta Maes. Surviving are his wife, Loretta; daughters, Linda (Jim) Coe of Jackson, MI, Carol (Dan) Kistler of Ashville, NC, and Pamela (Brad) Wrathell of Coral Springs, FL; two sons, Richard (Joyce) Martin of Millington, TN, and Edward Chapman of Mishawaka; nine grandchildren and 17 grandchildren; and his close friend, Susan Bradford, who was his transportation to and from appointments. Harold was a truck driver for many years for Richardson's; then worked in van conversions until his retirement. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a lifetime member of VFW Post 360, American Legion 161 and Eagles 2083. Family and friends may visit on Tuesday, May 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, with full military rites by the VFW Post 360/American Legion 161 burial team. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Services of Northern Indiana, 922 E. Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Cardinal Nursing Home for all of the wonderful care and kindness that they provided for Harold and his family. And a special thank you to Susan Bradford for all of her help and care.
