SOUTH BEND - Thomas R. Stachowiak, 58, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. Tom was born March 13, 1956 in South Bend to the late Alfred and Geraldine (Bronski) Stachowiak. Tom is also preceded in death by a brother, James Stachowiak; and sisters, Diane Hatton, Cindy Couch, Judy Newland, Karen Sloma; two granddaughters, Ashley and Autumn Ciesielski; and Tom's in-laws, Steven and Marjorie Toth. On August 7, 1998, Tom married Brenda (Toth) Stachowiak; she survives along with his sister, Kathleen Clyde (Bud) Moore of Leesburg, FL; sons, Steven (Traci) Ciesielski of South Bend, Jesse Hatton of Indianapolis, & Jim (Tina) Ciesielski of Plymouth; brother-in-law, Dennis Sloma; grandchildren, Steven Ciesielski of South Bend, Breanna Ciesielski of South Bend, Kaylee Ciesielski of Plymouth, & Jimmy Ciesielski of Plymouth; and great-grandson, Carter Ciesielski of South Bend. Tom is also survived by many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and cousins. Tom retired February 14, 2014 from AT & T after 28 years of service. He belonged to CWA 4900. He enjoyed going to the Blue Chip and Four Winds Casinos. When visiting his auntie Laurie in Laughlin they went to all the casinos around the Colorado River. Tom's past time was gardening and he loved his trains. He was a diehard NASCAR fan with Ryan Newman and Ernie Irvin as his all-time favorites. Tom loved visiting with his family and playing cards with his grandson Stevie when he was home on leave from the Army. Most of all he enjoyed his granddaughter Breanna and was so proud of her and called her trouble. Visitation for Tom will be 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm, today, Tuesday, April 22. 2014 in ST. JOSEPH FUNERAL HOME, 824 S. Mayflower Rd. Cremation will follow and burial will be at a later date.
