Lake L. Deane, 75, 2306 W. Concord, died last night at Ball Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Bridgeport, Ill., and moved to Muncie as a child with his parents. He attended Washington and Jefferson elementary schools, graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1927 and spent most of his life in this area. He was employed several years by Tele-Dyne Metal Forming in Elkhart prior to his retirement in 1972. Prior to that, he had been employed at Acme-Lees for 18 years and at Chevrolet-Muncie for eight years. Mr. Deane was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, a life member of the Knights of Columbus, and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Crago Deane; seven daughters, Marilyn J. Hamilton and Phyllis R. Wilkinson, both of Muncie, Joyce A. Lennington and Dorothy E. West, both of Yorktown, Donna F. Holt of Gallatin, Tenn., Janet L. Tobolski of South Bend, and Nancy E. Hunter of West Lafayette; three sons, Richard of Dunkirk, Phillip of Muncie, and Thomas of Elkhart; a sister, Jeannette Cox of Deming, N.M.; 43 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Meeks Mortuary from 3 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. The rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
