South Bend - Sally (Kosciukiewicz) Puchala, 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 2, 2022 at the Rosegate Village in Indianapolis, Indiana. Sally was born October 22, 1934 in Zablociu, Poland to the late Sylvester and Frances (Mazurewicz) Kosciukiewicz. On November 6, 1954, Sally married Frank Puchala, who proceeded her in death in 2002. She was also preceded in death by their son, John Frank Puchala in 2006. Left to cherish the beautiful memories of Sally is her daughter, MaryAnn E. (Joel) Dearing. All through her life, Sally was a dedicated and hard worker. She was employed by the Dainty Maid Bakery for many years. Sally then became the head cake decorator for Kroger and stayed with them for over 27 years. She received many awards for her talented work. Sally was also in charge of the cheese shop for which she also received many accolades for her creative displays. Sally was a very talented and creative women. She enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, crocheting, gardening, planting flowers, and flower arranging. She was also generous and gave her flower arrangements to many friends and family. Sally beautifully did all the silk flowers for her daughter’s wedding. She also enjoyed cooking for her family and made delicious meals, soups, and desserts. Sally loved dancing with her husband as well as listening to classical music and going to the ballet. Sally was a dedicated Catholic her whole life. She was a parishioner of St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church for over 50 years. Sally was a Eucharistic Minister for over 40 years. She was always beautifully dressed whenever she was serving as a Eucharistic Minister. She strongly felt that she was ‘doing this for God’. It gave her great joy to bring communion to those individuals who could not attend mass in person. Praying the Rosary was very important to Sally as it gave her strength and comfort in her times of need. During her retirement years, Sally became a volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital working in the gift shop. She enjoyed helping others and would be a comfort to them in their time of need. The family would like to thank Rosegate Village and Anew Hospice both of Indianapolis for their exceptional care and compassion. Visitation for Sally will be 5 - 7pm on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 in St. Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road with a Rosary to be prayed at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00pm, Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alzfdn.org or at your local Alzheimer’s foundation.
