Mary Evelyn Ottman, 86, of Elkhart, IN passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 10:32 p.m. in her home around family. Mary was born to Jess and May (Sheets) Truex in Goshen, IN on April 25, 1936. Mary married the love of her life, Howard Ottman Sr., on June 15, 1957 in Goshen. Over the years, it was easy to tell Mary was a giver. She was always cooking for everyone and taking care of all her babies. She would always help anyone in need, she knew no stranger. Mary is survived by 2 daughters; Pauline Ottman of Elkhart, Connie Vinsant of Elkhart, son; Earl (Nina) Ottman of Elkhart, 28 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren, brothers; Earl (Pauline) Truex, Kenny Truex, Junior Truex and Dave Truex. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, daughter; Sherry Riley, sons; Ronald Ottman, Howard Ottman Jr., and Ben Ottman, sisters; Katherine Sluser, Vivian Goff, Viola Hook, and Pauline Ottman, brothers; Howard, Harold, and Virgil Truex. A funeral service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at the Palmer Funeral Home - Bubb Chapel, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, IN 46545. Graveside services and burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, IN. Friends may also visit with the family from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022 at the funeral home. There will be a dinner to follow the graveside service that the family will announce after the funeral. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mary Ottman may be donated to Heart to Heart Hospice, 1178 Fremont Ct. Unit 2, Elkhart, IN 46516.
