NOTRE DAME - Constance Julia Froning, age 88, passed away February 16, 2017, at Holy Cross Village, Notre Dame, IN. She was born April 20, 1928, in East Chicago, Indiana, daughter of Leo and Julia Luczak. She graduated from Purdue University in 1949 with a degree in pharmacy. She married Henry B. Froning Jr. May 2, 1952, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in South Bend.Connie is survived by her husband and their children, Melinda Wiebush (James), Henry Bernhardt Froning III (Barney) and Kim Weber, Rebecca Kirby (Jeffery), Kurt Froning (Linda), Regina Julien, Mary Froning and Constance White. She also cherished her grandchildren, Molly and Amanda Wiebush, Lee Bennett and Sarah Blankenship, Caroline and Anastasia Froning, Daniel, Margret and Thomas Julien, Kyle and Joseph White, Sarah Herrmann, Justin Zimmerman and Derek and Dustin Kirby; also by her seven great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her caretakers and many fellow residents at Holy Cross Village. Connie was a devoted and loving mother and wife, always full of pride for her children and would often marvel out loud at how lucky she was to have found Hank. Even in declining health, Connie continued to have a kind soul and her nurturing, outgoing and friendly character was beautifully magnified for all to enjoy. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, 10:00 am, followed by the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am at Our Lady of Holy Cross Chapel at Dujarie House, Notre Dame, IN.
