Elkhart - Sylvester Podgorny, 87 passed away at his residence Thursday morning. Bill was born in Chicago to Frank and Bernice Podgorny. He was a well known realtor throughout the Michiana area. Bill was also involved in developing many projects working for Portage Realty. Bill loved Notre Dame Football and basketball and also the White Sox. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill was a devoted husband and father. Bill married the love of his life Margaret Woodward on December 23, 1950 and they would be together sixty four years. Bill is survived by his spouse Margaret, son Jack (Deb) Podgorny, brother Chet and sister, Lenni Niles also some nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Jill and a sister Jen Froh. A gathering of friends and family will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home 10776 McKinley Highway Osceola IN 46561 Tuesday December 15, 2015 from 12:00-2:00pm with a funeral service immediately starting at 2:00pm with Pastor Greg Hiatt and Pastor Gabrielle Ginder officiating. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens with full military honors. The family''s preferred memorial contribution may be made to Huntertown United Methodist Church 16201 Lima Road, Huntertown IN 46748 in Bill''s memory.
