South Bend - Joseph A. Pecsi, Jr., 77 passed away at 3:00am Saturday, November 2, 2019 in his home after a long battle with cancer. Joseph was born on June 20, 1942 in South Bend to Joseph and Martha (Duszynski) Pecsi Sr. He attended Our Lady of Hungary grade school, St. Joseph High School and graduated from Riley High School. Joe served his apprenticeship at Summit Tool & Die. He worked at Alumni Tool & Die where he also served as a Union Steward for the UAW. He worked at Perrish Tool & Die until he retired. Joe enjoyed fishing. Every weekend he looked forward to spending the day out on the lake in the boat hoping to catch the big one! He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, who brought him much joy. He was an avid fan of the Notre Dame Women’s Basketball team and attended home games with his family and friends. He enjoyed playing pool at the legion. On October 19, 1963 he married Nanette Cadieux who survives along with a brother James (Diana) Pecsi, a daughter Michelle Skarbek, son Joseph (Stacy) Pecsi III, 7 grandchildren Rachel (Shane) San Clemente, Nicole Walasinski, Joseph Pecsi IV, Gabrielle Pecsi, Emily Pecsi, Elizabeth Skarbek, and Alex Skarbek, and a great-granddaughter Arianna Balmer. Family and friends may gather from 12-2pm Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue. Services will be held at 2:00pm with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
