SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth R. "Betty" Sotkiewicz, 86, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2010, at Regency Place of South Bend. Betty was born June 24, 1923, in South Bend, Indiana to George and Rose (Sokach) Kovacs, Sr. She was employed with Memorial Hospital for several years. On April 24, 1942, Elizabeth married John A. Sotkiewicz, who preceded her in death on July 13, 1987. Surviving is her daughter, Nancy (Michael) Nowak of South Bend, Indiana; grandchildren, Tim Nowak, John (Lori) Nowak, Deb (Calvin) Nowak-Frick, Laurie (Fred) Taghon, Julie Nowak; great-grandchildren, Seth, Michelle Tara, Sarah, Lee, Jessica, and Justin; a great great-granddaughter, Alexandra, and great great-grandson, J.J.; and several nieces and nephews. A great-grandson, Guadalupe Botello and her brother, George Kovacs preceded her in death. Betty was a member of St. Stanislaus B & M Catholic Church, South Bend. Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, Indiana, where a Parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2010, at St. Stanislaus B & M Catholic Church.
